Ribbons and Medals
|
|
The coloured ribbons and medals are part of the "Voice for Life" choir training scheme run by the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM). Each colour represents a different level of choral singing |
|
|
Voice for Life sets targets which help you to improve your singing skills and learn more about music |
| Targets are grouped into different levels and, when you complete a level, you are awarded a new ribbon, medal and certificate. You can see the order of the colours on the left hand side | |
| Some levels are tested gradually by working hard at Mini Choir each week whilst others are tested elsewhere in one big exam | |
| The first level is the White ribbon and, once this is completed, you become a full member of Mini Choir and are ready to move on to the Light Blue level | |
| Then, comes Dark Blue, Red and Yellow. All of the ribbons mentioned so far are tested at Mini Choir | |
| Mixed in with these you can see Green, Purple and Gold. For these three ribbons, you must take exams similar to musical instrument exams. They are marked by special examiners | |
| These three awards are also called the Bronze, Silver and Gold levels of choral singing and have very special medals |
Sing, have fun and learn about music
